One, he represents our generation in a show that was slightly stylized to be reminiscent of a past generation. Two, he reminds me of one of my better male friends. Three, his hard exterior makes his likes so much funnier - a detective who doesn’t like to be touched knits. It’s so cute, and Chi McBride made Emerson funny because you can tell even though he acts like he doesn’t like Chuck, he would be sad if she re-died.
